Not all salt is the same…. most salt is Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and is usually obtained by the desalination (de salting) of sea water.
Himalayan salt is entirely different. It is a rock salt that is from (not surprisingly) the Himalayas, it was formed when an ancient sea dried up, millions of years ago (250 million to be precise) when the earth was virgin and there was no pollution. The salt contains 84 different chemicals, some of which are needed by the human body in order to function properly.
Normal table salt has been heat treated and has lost all of it’s nutritional value (as it has denatured) and is therefore unhealthy for us.
Himalayan salt is pink because it has a high iron content, which also gives it a very unique flavour.
Himalayan salt gives off lots of negatively charged ions that are good for you! because with pollution and electrical equipment (laptops etc) creates positive ions in the air which are potentially harmful to us and cause air quality in areas affected to deteriorate. Himalayan Salt Lamps are better than using mains powered ionisers, as they ionise even when switched off (you do not need to illuminate the salt for it to ionise).
